STAGE is a registered
501(c)3 not-for-profit Theatre group committed to bringing quality productions,
opportunities for involvement onstage and behind the scenes, and education for
children and at-risk teens throughout the tri-state area. We have been in existence since 2012 and are
growing due to the successes we have achieved while performing as well as those
successes within the lives of our member actors and crew.
The lack of theatrical
opportunities for today’s youngsters is glaring - without the chance to act and
take part in the development of a project such as a theatrical production kids
are missing out on important building blocks they need to reach their maximum
potential. Skills and traits such as
confidence, teamwork, commitment, problem solving, and independent thinking are
all benefits of exposure to taking the stage or working on a crew. STAGE is determined, through after-school and
summer programs, to provide these essential tools to the youngsters of our
communities by allowing them to be part of classes and/or a production brought
to final performance.
The STAGE productions
typically benefit a local charity, such as the first ever Theatre for the Cure
(held to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation) held in January 2014. By raising money for worthy organizations, we
are giving back while also entertaining and providing a method of promotion and
awareness for a cause important to so many.
This is an aspect of the foundation of STAGE that, along with the
education focus, truly defines our group’s overall mission.
STAGE is honored to be
a member of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana as we strive to increase
our footprint throughout the area. We
will be exploring new opportunities to gain visibility in the future, but no
matter how large we may grow our being will be grounded in the most important function
we have - to provide the chance for those to grow and to achieve that otherwise
may not have had it. From children to
adults, STAGE is proud to be a part of dreams realized and potentials reached.
STAGE was formerly
known as Community Artists and Stage Troupe (CAST), but the directing members
and Board of Directors has remained the same.
No matter our name our mission has not changed - serve our community
while providing opportunities to all.
